The Journey Begins
With every great adventure, you must start somewhere. Sometimes you set out with a specific goal in mind, and other times, you plunge headfirst into chaos equipped solely with your knowledge and skills. Other times, a journey begins that you never saw coming. It isn’t until you’ve traveled for quite a long time before the realization hits you.
When I started writing, it was simply because I wanted to read more, but couldn’t find what I was looking for. The high fantasy romance genre was flooded with YA selections. That’s something I truly appreciated in my youth, but as I got older, the books didn’t really mature. If they had, it wasn’t easy to find them. Thankfully, this has changed in the last few years. I believe many other readers had the same thought. The writing community has exploded with indie publishing’s popularity and new authors.
So, back in 2020, I started writing. For a while, I played around with fan fiction, but it wasn’t as satisfying as I wanted. I needed something that was my own, completely. I quickly got lost in a world of Fae and magic, but my fantasy world was missing something. I’d written well over 100,000 words, and never introduced the BBEG, the villain. Seeing how far along I was when that realization hit me, I decided to set that world and story aside for the time being. My writing needed improvement, and I wanted desperately to tell an amazing story.
That’s when I started writing Unwilling. Keep in mind, the idea to publish didn’t exist in my mind yet. I was just writing to write. I was having fun in my own mind and escaping into another fantasy. The idea for this book started with a strange thought about the typical hatred fostered between werewolves and vampires. I’m playing the long game with it, but honestly, Gerard is completely evil and he’ll never change. If you want to know more, you’ll just have to read the book. I don’t want to spoil anything.
At this point, I’ve written over 700k words across 20+ projects or concepts. Much of which will probably never be published, but the fact that I’ve come this far over the last five years is an achievement I’ll always be proud of. Now that I’ve come this far and decided to take my writing to the professional level, I’m determined to keep going. Writing has become a true passion, and I’ve been having a lot of fun with this journey. I have several series in the works, and plans to last me well over a decade of full-time work. Paranormal romance, fantasy, BDSM, and reverse harem are all things you can expect to see from me in the near future.
